Activities for Children and Young People

As part of our Child Safeguarding Policy the following rules apply at all times

No adult (apart from a relative or carer) is to be alone with a child or young person unless they have an enhanced DBS check approved and recorded by Glossop Labour Activities for children and young people. Currently this is Angela, Joy or Gwyneth.

Physical contact (apart from with a related child) should only be instigated by the child or young person, and should be relevant to their needs or safety or to a particular organised activity.

Any concerns relating to child safeguarding should be raised with one of the Holiday Activity Leaders: Joy, Gwyneth or Angela.

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding is the broader preventative and precautionary approach to planning and procedures that need to be in place to protect children and young people from any potential harm or damage. It is more than child protection. Our full Safeguarding Policy, and
our Data Protection Policy, can be downloaded using the following links:

Activities for children and young people are organised on an occasional basis and will be notified first to Club members and then, if there are still spaces, on this web site and on our facebook page

Please contact Joy, Angela G or Gwyneth glossoplabourclub@gmail.com for more information.

The organisers are experienced in working with children and young people (as a primary school teacher, organising activities locally and an ex leader in the Woodcraft Folk). Two of us have also recently completed the Volunteer Passport Children and Young People course run by Derbyshire County Council and we have all had enhanced DBS checks.

The principles of Co-operation, equality, democracy, international friendship and respect for the environment underpin all of our activities.
